George Abbott:  

George is a native of Arizona, born in Mesa, 1954. He attended most of his grammar school education in Anson, a small rural community in mid-Texas. After returning to Arizona in 1971, he graduated secondary level education at Chandler High School in January 1973 and went on to attend Mesa Community College where he graduated with an Associates Arts Degree in May 1975. He continued his higher education at Arizona State University where he demonstrated his leadership ability as a member of the Army ROTC Detachment. In December 1978, George graduated from ASU with a Bachelor of Science Degree and was designated as a Distinguished Military Graduate. Upon his graduation from Arizona State University, George received a Regular Army Commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery and eventually retiring at the rank of Major. MAJ Abbott spent fourteen years on active duty and, in February 1999, completed his 20 year military service as a member of the Arizona Army National Guard. His military career included such duty positions as: artillery fire direction officer, platoon leader, firing battery executive officer, firing battery commander, field artillery advanced course small group instructor, brigade and regimental fire support officer. MAJ Abbott distinguished himself in key leadership positions in units equipped with highly advanced weapon systems such as: the M109, 155mm Self Propelled Howitzer; the Pershing II, Medium Range Nuclear Missile; and the AH-64, Apache Attack Helicopter.
