1974-76: Operations Officer, USS Joseph Hewes (DE/FF-1078). Homeport Charleston, SC. Persian Gulf/Indian Ocean deployment.
1976-78: Operations Officer, Commander Destroyer Squadron Nine (CDS-9) homeport San Diego, CA. Son (Beau) born 9/77.
1978-81: Taught History at the US Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD. Daughter (Kelly) born 12/80.

1986-1990: Associate Chairman, Political Science Department, US Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD. 1989 Interim Chairman, Foreign Language Department. Conducted German Study Tours. Attended Christian-Albrechts University, Kiel, Germany (Summer 1989). 9/90, retired from US Navy as Commander (0-5).
1991-1997: Senior Analyst, Summit Research Corporation, Gaithersburg, MD. Conducted war games for US Navy, managed Navy Lessons Learned System.
1997-2002: Systems Analyst for VGS, Inc. supporting the Office of the Secretary of Defense/Program Analysis and Evaluation.
2003-2009: Sr. Systems Analyst for SAIC supporting the Office of the Secretary of Defense/Program Analysis and Evaluation.(Retired from day job in 2009).
1997-June 2013: Adjunct Professor of Strategy and Policy, US Naval War College, College of Distance Education.
Residence: Cape St. Claire, near Annapolis, Md. Hobbies include boating, gardening, model railroading (O-gauge), antiques, and travel. Barbara retired in 2009 as a librarian at US Naval Academy and is into Creative Memories, Girl Scouts. Son Beau is an independent financial advisor and co-partner in DELMARVA Financial Group (DFG). Daughter Kelly married Joseph Rodowsky December 03. She taught High School US history/world history in Howard Co. Now that we're retired we travel. 2009 -England, Hilton Head, New England. 2010-Alaska cruise, Pacific Northwest driving tour, and New England. 2011 projected Ohio, Illinois, Tennessee and New England. 2012 Travel to Ohio and New England (MA, NH, and RI. Also USS Hewes mini-reunion in Somerset PA.
In 2013 we Traveled to Germany and the Czech Republic.
School
Bounced from school to school as a Navy Junior. Enjoyed going to only 1 high school--Mt. Rainier HS. Active in Cross Country and Track (lettered in both). Enjoyed English, History, and German, but especially Mrs. Warshal's typing class.
