George's Story
July 2008:
Ok... a story:
Went to VA Tech, lost 20 pounds, got bored with VA Tech quick. Finished my basic EMT certification and went back to Culpeper. Worked, ran a lot of rescue squad duty, upgraded my training on my nights off.
Moved back to Blacksburg, worked as a medic there running from all over the place from the middle of nowhere to West Virginia, Duke Med Center and a lot of trips to Roanoke and UVA med center. Kept upgrading my training at night.
Moved to Newport News and became the area supervisor there for our operations in Williamsburg, and the surrounding Hampton Roads area. Still kept upgrading my training at night and became a Registered Paramedic
Got married, joined the Air Force in 1998. Went to Texas, Mississippi, Wash. state and then stationed in Oklahoma. Went to Germany, Turkey...Expand for more
, and flew missions over Iraq. Got divorced.
Got married again in 2002 to current wife. Flew over or to most of the 50 states. Flew counter drug mission in the Caribbean and in South America. (real Colombian coffee is good!) Flew our butts off after 9/11 patrolling over NYC, Wash D.C. and other places.
Got sick, had two surgeries. Got really sick, more surgery. Lost about 100 pounds now, retired from the Air Force.
In the middle of that had one daughter who's almost 8 now.
Disabled and stuck in the house so I'm reachable by email pretty much every day. Watch some TV, do a lot of genealogy research and play on the computer.
There's the story; an epic, a tragedy, and a comedy.
QUICK EDIT: Just moved back to Virginia. After 10 long years in Oklahoma, I'm now living in Fairfax County as of Aug 2010.
