George's Story
Patricia and I have a plaque on the wall that says, "Home is where the Army sends you," and we have now been Alabama residents longer (in one stretch) than anyplace else since we married 36 years ago. I retired from active service in 2004, and except for a one year tour in the Czech Republic, have been an Army civilian since then.
We are now firmly (more or less) ensconced in Phenix City, and I trek across the bridge to Fort Benning, GA, every morning to see what havoc I can wreak as the deputy garrison commander (city manager). It's a great job, and provides daily opportunities to help soldiers, their families and our greater Fort Benning community.

orward air controllers. He and his wife, Teresa, have blessed us with two grandsons, Samuel and Ethan. I commissioned Bill as a Marine lieutenant when I commanded the 1-19th Field Artillery at Fort Sill, and have proudly watched him serve our country since then.
Our youngest son, Jon, and his family reside in Oklahoma. Having spent over a quarter century in the field artillery, we were repeatedly assigned to Fort Sill, and Jon became enamored with the state. He and his wife, Jamie, have a boy, Tanner, and our only granddaughter, London Rose. Jon works for Progressive Insurance and Jamie is an OU student - Go Sooners!
Life is good, and I hope all of my fellow classmates and friends have been as fortunate as I have been since we graduated from Robbinsdale High.
