George's Story
Life
7/21/2000
I went to RPI after high school, where I spent 4 tortuous years of avoiding class and causing trouble. I graduated with a strong 2.1 GPA and went on to find my first job. After about a 6 month search, the job market not being great and the demand for computer nerds low then, especially ones with exemplary grades, I found my first job.
Two or three years later, I can't be sure, I left for my first consulting gig, and have essentially been an independent contractor since then.
I've worked three times with my brother David (89) as we are in the same field. We usually worked within feet of one another and had fun at work together.
Somewhere along the line (at about 25) I spent about 8 months as a Bartender at one of Boston's biggest clubs (Avalon) to compensate for my lack of interaction with the female variety at my 90% male software start-up day job. That was a fun but hard. It was the hardest work I've done (8 hours at a clip of non stop movement and lip rea...Expand for more
ding and dealing with drunks).
I've done tons of traveling, been to europe 7 times, 4 in the last 10 months to visit my girlfriend in Italy.
I just moved into a new Condo Loft that I got to design myself over the past two years, and has been deemed many times as "The Ultimate Bachelor Pad" and formally as the "LoveLoft" (web site coming soon). Anyone who remembers me, might remember that I was a gadget freak, and this place is loaded with them, the showcase being a 30 foot diagonal dvd/tv/computer screen. I also have a smaller version (7 inch diagonal screen) in my car.
I also recently formed my own company with 4 other partners who are basically the cream of the crop developers/manager from my many years in software. We have been working together for years, but on our own for 6 months. We do internet application development.
If you are in Boston and want to say hi, just give me a call. Life is busy, but not too busy to spend time with old friends.
