Georgiann's Story
After I graduated from City House, I attended Maryville College for four years and graduated in 1956 with a BA degree in Sociology. Later that year, on September 1, 1956 I married Leo J Donovan at Our Lady of Mt Carmel church in St. Louis. We moved into our first house at 5535 Winchelsea Dr. in Normandy. We lived there 7 1/2 year and had three children:Cathleen Ann, born 6/13/56, Patricia Lee, born 5/11/59 and Michael Josephy, born 8/17/62. We then moved to 5138 Wallingford Drive in Ferguson. Our fourth child , Julie Marie was born on 3/3/67. My husband worked for a number of companies including Wonder Bread, my father (Arthur Guntly, CPA). us and Shirley, Brown Graphics,, Anders Minkler and Diehl and finally on his own again, where he continued to do tax returns for clients until retiring in 2014. We lost our son in a tragic accident in 1991. Two of our girls married and we have four grandchildren Meg and Michelle Lees (Cathy's girls) and Eric and Luke Stuckmeyer (Julie's boys). I worked a series of part time jobs after the children went to school, but basically I was a stay at home Mom and drove car pools, was a room mother and volunteered at school in many different capacities. We are currentlh retired and enjoying a slower, more relaxed life style. We enjoy going to the Muny opera, playing bridge and going to the Casinos in our area and in Tunica MS on occasion.
