Gerald's Story
I have had 4 major career areas. I have been a US Navy sailor, a computer consultant, an educator, and a writer.
In the Navy, I started with two years of technical school, then was assigned to the USS Cadmus AR-14, a repair ship, at Newport RI. I met the Cadmus at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. After twenty months aboard Cadmus, we decommissioned her and I was transferred to the USS Franklin D Roosevelt CVA-42, an aircraft carrier, at Mayport FL. I spent my final 3-1/2 Navy years aboard her.
During my Navy years, I saw San Diego, San Francisco, and Vallejo CA, New England, North Florida, and visited Cuba, Kingston Jamaica, San Juan PR, Charlotte Amalie in the US Virgin Islands, the straights of Gibraltar, Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca in Spain, Canne...Expand for more
s France, Monaco, Naples and Rome Italy, Athens Greece, and the islands of Corfu, Hydra, Rhodes, and Crete.
After I returned home from the Navy, I was a computer consultant, building, maintaining, and programming mini- and microcomputers for small businesses.
I consultants accountants and lawyers, clothing retailers and trade associations, a glass fabricator and a helicopter parts manufacturer.
As an educator, I taught part-time at El Centro College, then full-time at American Trade School in Dallas.
As a writer, I have written short stories, commentaries, thought pieces, and have a novel in progress.
Even though I am now disabled, I still have a full life writing, blogging, and following the adventures of my brother's family in California.
