Life Hi, I'm Gerald KENNETH Harris. I would have graduated in 1955, but in 1953, as a sophomore I decided to join the U.S. Air Force. I stayed with them until 1975 when I retired with 22 years service. I have practically seen the whole world. My duty stations took me to: upper New York for basic training, then on to Cheyenne, Wyoming. After graduation, I was sent to Thule (Tooley), Greenland for one year. Upon returning to the states, I went to Wright-Patterson AFB, in Dayton, Ohio. When my enlistment was up, I got out and came back to Campbell County. I did however, become restless and reenlisted three weeks later. I was rhen to "Paradise", West Palm Beach AFB, Florida. After a short time there, the base was slated to be turned over to the local city government, which meant another move. I got assigned to Wiesbaden (Weesbahden), Germany for three and one half years. While in Wiesbaden, I met and married my wife of 46 years. Her name is Walpurga (pronounced Val poor guh), however we address her as Wally for short. I have three children, Elizabeth, Jerry and Jeff. All are married and have given us 6 grandchildren. I now reside near Dallas, Texas in an Active Seni ors Retirement Center. When we came to the states, we were stationed in Dover, Delaware. After four years there, I was sent to Danang, Vietnam. I was there long enough to get exposed to Agent Orange and am now a 100% disabled veteran being eaten up with d...Expand for more
