Gerald (Gerry)'s Story

I just came back to California after visiting the Rowley area for three weeks. I was staying at the Jewel Mill property in Rowley for two weeks, and Hampton Beach for a week. The weather was the best ever at that time of year.......perfect ! Life I originally came to California as a Field Engineer for Adams/Russell of Amesbury in 1983. I was sent out as a technical advisor during the installation and testing of their RF Coaxial Cables used on the B1-Bomber Aircraft. I've been an artist and photographer all my life, and now I operate an Advertising/Design business. College I continue to take classes at the local Antelope Valley College. I try to stay "cutting edge" by taking computer based Multimedia classes. Workplace I own and operate an Advertising/Multimedia Design business called Ad/Art & Design. Military I spent 4 years during the Viet Nam War as a Marine Corps Missile Fire Control Technician working on F-4 Phantom Aircraft. Life I have two sons, Jeremy, who lives in Wakefield, MA., with his wife Pam and children Alex and Rachel. And my younger son Jericho, who lives in Georgetown with his wife Kelly, and their children Kierra, Ayden and Brady. I've been married some, and single some, and lived with a few I didn't marry. I guess you could say I've been a lover AND a fighter. I've been and done a lot of different things. And none of it really matters in the Grand Scheme of Life. Today I'm just me...period. None of it makes any difference. I had the good fortune of being in Georgetown last year, and visiting with friends and family. I played a lot with my grandkids, and had the opportunity to have breakfast with four old female friends from High School one day. It didn't really matter all those years in between. What really mattered was who I was being on that day. Today, when I really feel good about myself...and who I Am, is when I'm doing something to help someone else. That makes me feel alive and abundant, and a vital part of life, as I understand it today. It's not all about what I have done in the past. It's all about who and what I'm being today that matters. This evening I am auditioning for a paid acting job in the stage version of "PROOF." Now thats a rush !!! Where else is a 60 year old guy going to get that kind of a rush at my age...legally? UPDATE: Got the part I auditioned for, ROBERT. Anthony Hopkins played the roll in the 2005 movie, with Gwyneth Paltrow. This is the stage version that won a Pulitzer Prize for the author, David Auburn in 2001. January 2010..."Life is Good" Update March 2010 I am thinking about taking a trip back to MA sometime soon. I've made no defined plans yet. I'm thinking about buying a motorcycle to keep back there. I did the lead part in proof that I was talking about above. That all went well. After I finshed that play I was asked to take over the lead role...Expand for more
in Annual Christmas Play the City of Lancaster, California puts on every year. It is mainly for schoolchildren that they bus in from all over the area to see this play in a beautiful 750 seat Theater. For many children it is their very first impression of what theater and the arts is all about. So it's cool. We did two shows a day for the kids on Wed., Thurs.and Friday during the day. And then a third show Friday night open to the public, and a final show on Saturday evening. It was a blast. I brought my 12 year old granddaughter Kierra, (from Gtown) accompanied by my first wife Susan Thompson out to see me in the play. They came both nights and I brought them backstage while we did our cast photo session. They got a chance of a lifetime to see what theater is like. So, I'm very grateful for having the opportunity to serve my City and be a part of the childrens learning experience. The tough part of it was, I just finished one play where I had about 45 minutes of dialog memorized (there are only four castmembers in proof) and I was called by the Director of the Christmas Play and asked to take over a lead role with only 3 weeks before opening night. The man originally cast was in the hospital with a blood disease and couldn't go on. So I had to learn the lead part in the play, named Grampy,(my grandkids all call me Grampy) make arrangements for family to come out and stay, ya-ta-da, ya-ta da!!! Life is Good... Update June 2010...I'm hoping to come back and visit in October. Right now I'm very busy working on two plays. I play the King of Hearts onstage in "Alice in Wonderland." And I'm in rehearsals for 12 Angry Jurors. Update: December 2010 I made it back to Georgetown for the Thanksgiving holiday for the first time in 25 years. I come back every year to visit, but not for the Holidays. It was an awesome time. We had dinner at my Ex's (Susan Thompson) home in New Hampshire. I got a chance to visit with a lot of friends from Grammar School in Rowley, and High School at Georgetown. It was a very rewarding visit. June 2012. I'll be in the area from June 26th to at least July 11th. Had a wonderful trip back to New England in 2012. Spent time with kids, grandchildren and friends. April 2013.....I had a very serious surgery that had changed my life. In November 2012 I had a Aorto-Bifemoral Graft. In layman terms they replaced the main artery from my heart to my legs with a synthetic artery. I am able to do things I haven't done in twenty years. I am pain free for the first time in many years. So I'm looking forward to my visit this year. I will hopefully be able to keep up with the grandkids (5) now...lol. I am in rehearsals for OKLAHOMA !!!......the musical. Which we will be performing in May at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center's main stage. Also I bought a 1949 (the year I was born) Dodge Pickup Truck that I am restoring.
