Gerald's Story
College
Two years after retiring from military service, I receive my B.A. in Finance with a minor in Accounting on May 20, 2005. Serving in the military made it necessary to postpone college but it was worth it. At present I am considering The CPA exam or maybe a Masters degree in Management. I hold an AA Degree in Business and a Diploma for Governmental Accounting from the Military School of Accounting and Finance.
Military
I joined the US Army Reserve on 17 June 1977. I quickly found out that one weekend out of the month and two weeks out of the year was not the whole story. Personnel. From there things changed. I found myself traveling and attending military schools to further my carreer. October 1986 I was assigned as RPA Order Authority and NCOIC for TF 364 rear at Ft. Sheridan for until 6 July 1987. I held four MOS's and was an instructor. The unit I belong to was not your typical Reserve Unit. At that time, we were a Command with 60 to 70 percent of our subordinate units active duty units. Our scope of responsibility covered two continents. It was fun and time passed so quickly. I attended Chemical/Biological training in August of 1990 and in November of 1990 found myself and my unit heading to Desert Shield/Desert Storm. It was a scary time but it was full of experience and it was an education in itself.
