Geraldine's Story
Geradine ( Gerry ) Freisinger was born 8/5/1927 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, where her Father George worked at a Greenhouse for a short time. She was a 1945 Cedar Rapids Wilson High School graduate. She married Lyle Young in Feb. of 1949 in Anamosa, Iowa. Gerry lived with her father and Mother (George Freisinger & Genevieve McGowan Freisinger) at 1417 4th St. S.W. Cedar Rapids from 1932 until February 1949 while attending Van Buren Elementary Grade School & Wilson Junior & Senior High School. Gerry was offerred a position at Hallmark Cards of Kansas City in June 1945. She turned down that offer and continued to live in Cedar Rapids. Gerry & Lyle had 3 children (Connie, Keith, & Mark). re and after she married Lyle.She and Husband Lyle lived at 5610 Klinger St. S.W. Cedar Rapids from 5/1/1955 until 11/1/1961. Gerry and her family lived on Colorado Dr. S.W. from 11/1/1961 until 3/1/1962, when her and Lyle. Family moved to their new house on 78 Devonwood Av. S.W. Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Gerry and Lyle built an A - Frame Cabin Southeast of Waubeek, Iowa on the Wapsi River in April, 1965 through November, 1965. Gerry, Lyle, and family caught a lot of Catfish, Carp, Bluegill, & Bullhead on the Wapsi River in Iowa. Gerry and family lived at 78 Devonwood Av. S.W. in Lincolnway Village from 3/1/1962 until 5/1/1988, when Gerry and her family moved to 79 29th Av. S.W. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She died of Ovarian Cancer in Feb. 1990.
