Geri's Story
TIME FLIES BY
Sorry about the cliche, but I honestly can't believe we're in our 50's. When I get pulled over by a trooper, or am greeted by a new doctor who has replaced my retired physician, my immediate thought is that I have shoes older than this person (I'm referring to my Earth Shoes of 1973 which I've saved for God-knows-what-reason). I actually asked my chiropractor how many times he had performed a certain move before he tried it on me. Oy vey! So why is it that when I'm visiting my mother (who still lives in the same house in Smithtown where I grew up) and walk through the door and yell, "Ma, I'm here", she always responds with "Don't forget to wipe your shoes and close the door, you're letting out all the heat/air conditioning", I'm automatically 16 years old again?? At least in my heart, anyway. Because after driving 3-1/2 - 4 hours from East Greenbush, NY (upstate - 7 miles from Albany) and shlepping in my suitcase, presents and 60 lb. dog, I feel every one of my 52 years. But if I don't move or look in a mirror, voila, I'm sixteen again. It's amazing!! My mom even left the same poster of Paris hanging on my child hood bedroom wall. Informationally speaking, I am married to Gene Sc...Expand for more
hultheis for 23 years (he grew up in Brentwood - didn't Smithtown always kick Brentwood's ass, or is that just wishful thinking?), have 1 dog and 2 cats (all rescued), no kids and I recently retired. I haven't made any of the reunions (long story) but am anxiously awaiting the next one (when is it, anyway??). I'd love to hear from anyone and, as always, wish you all love, health and happiness.
Fondly, Geri Moskowitz
FIRST KISS
Guess I was sort of forward (no???) but my first kiss was in 6th grade and I kissed John Miller on a school bus during a field trip to the Bronx. I was so excited that I'm not entirely sure whether he kissed me back, but I suspect I am responsible for any of his later therapy sessions in life. Not only that, but I fondly remember my first lustful gesture every March 5th, on John Miller's birthday. (God, I can't believe I still remember his b'day). The teddy bear that I took to college was the original "John" bear which I still have. Thankfully, my husband, Gene, has never been jealous of "John" - but neither would you if you saw what that poor bear looks like now after 41 years. He's been hugged, kissed, squished, thrown, kicked, cried on and lost.
Ahhhh.....memories.
