Gerri Brown:  

I grew up in Huntington Beach, California and graduated from Edison High School. I attended the University of the Pacific and majored in English as a Second Language and International Studies, while perfecting my Spanish. I taught Spanish, ESL, journalism and yearbook in middle school for 18 years, worked as a Teacher on Special Assignment for the 7-12 Curriculum office for 5 years (providing staff development and working with new teachers), and am now teaching English Learners at high school. In the middle of all that I was (amd still am) very active with the local, state, and national teacher unions - GGEA/CTA/NEA. While advocating for education issues for teachers ans students, I met the love of my life, Dave, and married him.
