Gerry's Story

When graduating I had wanted to go into technical design, but after getting my first job the desire to party and go clubbing kind of did away with the desire to pursue that dream. I have worked at many different companies in Payroll and Admin. In 1984 I was introduced to computers and furthered my education at Champlain college in 1990-91. I was top of my class, receiving a 98% overall average. Since then I have worked in a couple of Christian schools taking care of the computer departments and any issues pertaining to them. I hated English in school and got some of my poorest marks in it. But about 10 years ago I discovered a love for writing and have become a proficient writer. I also am a professional gospel artist. I recorded first in 1986 a recording called “All For Him”, which received airplay on Christian radio. I have written many songs and worship choruses. Since 2003 I have been an ordained minister in charge of worship and prayer. I still live in the Montreal area. In 1984 I married Elaine, a beautiful French Canadian woman who was my lover and best friend but in 1993, I lost her to mental illness. We had 2 children, Melodie-Joy and Gabriel. I have raised them on my own since my wife's mental illness. Both are great kids, Melodie now teaches in the school where I work and Gab is continuing his studies looking to go into film editing. At the moment I am happily single, but w...Expand for more
ho knows, if one day God brings the right lady into my life, I may be willing to give it up. When I was 24 I was diagnosed with acute rheumatoid arthritis. It gradually destroyed the joints in my knees and a hip and I had to have them replaced. The most significant thing that happened in my life was the day I came to know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. It was February 14th, 1981, Valentine's Day, hard to forget. I gave my heart to Him that day. Many people think that we Christians think we are better and have it better than others. It is not the case. I'm not better than you or anybody else. I just came to realize my weaknesses and that I needed a Savior. There is a peace and joy that surpasses anything in life in Christ. The relationship with Him is personal and His voice is real. The bible says that those who are His recognize and hear His voice. His voice is far different than any other. Without Him, I and my children would not have survived the many storms we have had to face. Through losing my wife, major surgeries, and many other losses, He has been and continues to be my anchor. In 2011 I traveled to the Philipines and met my wife Nory. We got married the same year and she immigrated to Canada in 2014. Her country, the Philippines, has become my second home and we travel back there often. God bless you and I wish you peace. Thank you for visiting and taking the time to read.
