I think my biggest crush was OBVIOUS! My Favorite Teachers were Mrs Smith in Science 5th grade, and Mrs Wood English and Speech. I WOULD do it over again if I could, but only knowing what I know NOW!
Workplace
As soon as I was old enough, I went to work for the Lufkin Fire Dept, my lifelong goal. I Loved the work, and was able to make Sergeant in two years and two days, because I kept my nose in the books, for a change. I loved helping people on the ambulance and was one of the EMT's that Begged Chief Stephens Daily to send us to Paramedic school. He did. Civil Service is not a career to get rich in by any means, and I worked side jobs, to be able tobdo the things I like to do. In July 1984 a building truss broke, bringing 49 more down on me. I was pinned in the structure for several minutes. Man...Expand for more
y surgeries and even more prayers later I returned to work. I had recieved my Paramedic Certification while in the Hospital. I returned to work, and rose to the rank of Captain/Paramedic. If I had done only what was "Required" of me, I could have stayed at that, but I felt I MUST fight fire. I found myself back in the Hospital, and "Retired." I worked as a Fire and Arson Investigator for about 10 years, untill I started working with Hospice. I did work for Hospice for about 5 years. I got a chance to take a job with SFA Police Dept. in Dispatch, and learned quickly that I liked a State Job. Texas Forest Service offered me a job doing what I do best, Talking! I dispatch fires for 13 Counties, and teach firefighters in my district. It's hard to believe I actually get paid to do this! It's not a Job, it's ME!
