Gerry's Story
Life
81 and still kickin' ! Feelin' it a little more though. Sold the place down south. Insurance at this age is outrageous. Still belong to the golf course and here its open all year round. A little cooler but a reasonable trade off.
OK so here I am in my 80th year some twenty five years retired.. I would like to say it doesn't feel like it but that stuff in the bio below seems like a million years ago and when I look in the mirror I wonder who that guy is. My wife and I usually spend the winters down south but after two years of hiding from covid I wonder what our place looks like. .Now that we can go again other issues seem to get in the way. Oh the golden years!! .
I was a fun loving kid with an eye on the world. I guess it follows that I wanted to see it. After high school I joined the military, grew up fast and learned some interesting skills. Later I decided I wanted to do something else in life so I joined the R.C.M.P. This was my true calling. I found a home and a great career. I really hated to retire. I married twice and had two wonderful kids (Now you can add six grandkids). These days I do what I can to keep busy. I live on the west coast where the weather is balmy and I spend my time cutting grass instead of shoveling snow and golfing instead of skiing. When I'm not puttering around here my wife and I love to travel with the 'RV' ...Expand for more

School
Ooooooh! The only part about school I really liked happened outside the classrooms. After high school I thought I might find adventure in the military so I joined the army. Eventually I left the military to attend university when an opportunity to join the RCMP presented itself and I decided to take it. I loved my work and never did get my degree. Ah well, now I'm retired and I don't have any interest to finish it. In the midst of family boos, I just say ... "Fore".
Workplace
"If I told ya, I'd hafta shoot ya!"
I was a police officer what else can i tell you. I found it to be a most rewarding career. During my years I did a lot of things and I remember a lot of war stories. I also managed to travel a lot. I have actually travelled to the farthest points north, south, east and west in this country and most everywhere in between. I found it hard to retire. Compared to work this life is boring but I guess its time to move on.... "Fore".
Military
After school I joined the military looking for adventure an I found it. The military was a great place to start out in life. It had an unbeatable social life and a lot of camraderie. There was plenty of training and I learned a lot of skills, responsibility and pride in being a soldier. I spent ten good years with the military before I decided to move on. I also took up golf ... "Fore".
