Life after I left Hillcrest, I worked at the Rideau Regional Centre (now closed) in Smiths Falls (started Oct 2, 1972.) I began my training in the MRC program (working with individuals who were developmentally challenged) now DSW program in November 73. I moved to Picton in 1974, and worked at the Prince Edward Heights Complex (now closed.) I stayed there for a year as a Residential Counsellor II. I then found employment at Oaklands Regional Centre in Oakville, Ont. I was fortunate and was promoted to a supervisory position and work with some pretty terrific kids and staff. I went back to college and got my CYW diploma from George Brown College in Toronto. In September of 1979 I got a job at Sault College teaching in the MRC/DSW program. In August of 1981, I married a wonderful woman and had two great kids. In 1989, I began teaching in the Social Sciences department at Sault College teaching mostly psychology courses. I finished my BSc in Human Services from Lake Superior State University and then went on to get my M.A. in adult education from Central Michigan University. I've also taught part-time at Algoma Univesity College (a satellite campus of Laurentian University.) I was on a leave of absence from Sault College (from Sept 2003 to June 2004) working at Lambton College in Sarnia, developing new programs and developing research policies for NSERC eligibility.
