Life
Hi my name is Gerry Brow(BRO) nee Pompu.I live on Vancouver Island. We lived in the Kootenays till 1971,then when my daughter was 10 days old we headed up to North Vancouver Island to Benson Lake Mine in a VW bus. On the way there we blew a motor in Greenwood, replaced it and went on our way.We had to travel over a nasty logging road at Gold River over to Woss, we had a flat tire, it rained all the time when we hit the Island and we had no heat in our bus.(maybe we should of turned around). Any how we lived there for a couple of years and then we moved in Port McNeill on the Northern end of the Island and My husband worked in the logging industry and I went into the bartending business and I still do it. Port McNeill was a great place to raise our kids,it was a small town.When our daughter graduated we moved to Coombs(you know where the goats live on the roof)I work at the French Creek Marine Pub just a mile out of Parksville ,I've been there 14 years.My daughter works for Canfor in Vancouver as a CGA and is expecting her first child.My son lives in Courtenay and works up the north coast.they call me a Christmasaholic,cause I love Christmas so much. es and donating them to the SOS toy fund for people who need help at christmas.Last year I raised $7000.00 for the Chrsitmas Fund.I do all my fund raising from work, I do meat draws .I was up for citizen of the year a couple years ago. Ilove helping people, especially at Christmas.it sure feels good.I'm a real cat lover, we have 3 cats, all adopted from the SPCA.I do some collecting and I am into scrapbooking and crosstitching, I'm still learning to use a computer but it sure is fascinating.My husband is retired. We really like down Island all it did up on the north I sland was rain.I guess thats enough of my soap opera.(Well heres an update, My daughter lost her baby, it dies inutro. It was heart breaking. In November of last year my husband had a quituple by pass. He came out of it pretty good and is doing well. We had to put my mom into a home in Castlegar, dementia has set in,its very sad to see.I'm still working at the pub.Gerry Brow. Hi everyone, its may 16 th today. I'm still working at the same pub. 17 years now. My family is doing fine. Mom in now in a home in Nelson and seems to like it. I am coming home in august for the reunion.
