Gertrude's Story
Life
Since graduation I worked for New York Telephone as a Business Ofice Supervisor and Training Instructor for 14 years. I married Jerry in 1972, moved to Wantagh and gave birth to our daughter, Morgan in 1980. I began substitute teaching in Wantagh in 1989, moved to Oakdale in 1991 and began a full-time teaching position in Wantagh in 1993. I "looped" grade 3 to 4 and enjoyed developing a special bond with my students and their families for the two years. Our daughter, Morgan is currently a guidance counselor in Brooklyn. g the World Trade Center, Southerbys, Carnegie Hall and many other highrise buildings. We retired in 2005 and built a beautiful new home at The Albemarle Plantation in North Carolina. We have become involved in several organizations within the small town of Hertford. Jerry is a member of the Rotary Club, I am involved with the friends of the library and we both enjoy watering the plants that line the streets of the historic little town. The pace of life is slower here, but on The Plantation there is quite a social life and it keeps us very busy. In my spare time I substitute teach at the Lawrence Academy and we hope to do some traveling in the near future.
