Gigi's Story
Where do I begin? I had my son David 8/13/1982, which was a Friday. My b/d is 9/13 and I was born on Friday! I went to work at Lamb's Farm in 1983. I met my ex and got married in 1984. He was in the navy so we moved to Orlando, FL in Nov. of 1984. My son John was born in 1985 in Orlando. We were transferred to Saratoga Springs, NY in Oct. 1985. What a beautiful place! I loved it there. Lots of horses and talk about snow! He was stationed at the Ballston Spa nuclear power plant for school. From there we went to Norfolk, VA in 1986. Sea duty upon the USS John Marshall. A submarine. 1987 and no more being married to the navy! We moved back to New York and lived near Buffalo with his parents until we found a place. We ended up down in the southern tier in Cherry Creek, NY. Really beautiful country. I was in the Alleghenys. Amish country. I loved sitting and watching the wildlife and the buggies go by. The view of the mountains was forever changing. We moved to the small city of Jamestown NY in 1989. My ex got a job in town and it was a little hard going back and forth between Cherry Creek and Jamestown in the winter. I went back to visit often though. We split up in 1990 and I moved here to be close to family. I am related to about 90% of the small community I live in. Talk about a grapevine! I went to Northeast Mississippi Community College 1992 - 1994. Got an associates in marketing. Was on the dean's list and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. <<<Take note teachers! Went to work at our hospital in 1995 in the kitchen. Planned on getting my foot in the door then working my way up to public relations or a field in marketing. As it turned out I really liked working in the kitchen. I did a little of everything from cooking, washing dishes, ordering, and explaining diets to patients. I got to thinking that when the boys wer...Expand for more
e done with school I would get a degree in dietary management. That never happened. As some of you probably remember I am diabetic. It started taking it's toll. I have neuropathy bad and my legs and feet were hurting so bad. Then I ended up with a sore on my big toe. I had to quit working in 2003. I had surgery to remove a part of the bone in my big toe in 2004. So now I am on disabilty. I have good and bad days but do what I can and go on. I have always been involved with my boys. I was a football, baseball, and band mom. I was a cubscout leader, a scoutmaster, and started the first tiger scout pack here. I took my boys to Camp Yocona for a week for boyscout camp. Did that for 2 years. I really enjoyed camp life. Stayed in army tents and we stayed at a camp spot no one liked but me. It was far from the others at the top of the hill. Peaceful. I won knot tying champ and got 2nd place in our primative golf tourney. We had to make our golf clubs. That was lots of fun. The camp staff also wanted to nominate me for Order of the Arrow but I declined. It was too hard to take off from work for meetings and I felt it was unfair to have special treatment during the initiation.(diabetes) But I consider it a great honor to be considered. I live in the country surrounded by my family. I have a great boyfriend and we have been together for 17 years. My youngest son lives in Kansas but is planning on moving back home. My oldest son lives in Biloxi, MS. I raise llamas and currently have 15 along with a mule, 2 cats, and a hoard of gray squirrels I feed. Funny how the trees come alive at feeding time! I raised and rehabbed 5 baby gray squirrels back into the wild. Two, who are now 2 yrs old, still come to see me. I have also raised and rehabbed a whitetail fawn. Never know what may show up here. Well there ya have it in a nutshell.
