Gilbert's Story
Anyone that knew me in high school would be astounded to know that not only did I eventually go to college, I have earned four degrees! I have a BS in Civil Engineering, a BS in Geological Engineering, a Master's in Petroleum Engineering and an MBA.
I would love to see Mrs. Cravens or Mr. Coker again.
One of the jobs that I worked at, while I was at New Mexico State, was for the maintenace department. I changed the filters in the air conditioning system in all the buildings on campus. We would remove the filters (about three foot square and weighed about 15 pounds each) from a huge room where an entire wall was composed of filters. We would take them back to the plant and wash and oil them, take them back to the building and re-install them in the air conditioning system. When we got done with the last building, we would start all over again at the first building. I did this...Expand for more
job the entire time I was at New Mexico State University. This was one five or six different jobs that I worked at to pay for my schooling.
I have been in Texas since 1980 and in Houston since 1982. My wife and I moved to Midland Texas in 1980 to work in the oil business. We were transferred to Houston in 1982 and we have been here since. Originally we expected to return to Midland within a year. We were hoping to be transferred back to Midland so we could be closer to Las Cruces. We both love Las Cruces and miss the area.
We especially love La Posta and Spanish Kitchen, our two favorite restaurants in Las Cruces.
As I have gotten older and been away from Albuquerque longer, I realized that I miss Albuquerque. I wish that we could move back there but it probably won't happen. So I will have to content myself with returning to Albuquerque periodically to play golf.
