Gillian's Story
It's too long a story but here goes...I left Westlake in 83 and finished school at Beverly Hills High (CA). My mother decided to move there after her divorce to my dad and start fresh as she was also working in Century City and wanted to be closer to her work & friends. I hated it all, as I had been to eleven schools throughout my life (in England, Canada & the States), so I got a part time job in Century City and after taking the proficiency test (as I had other plans) moved into my own home in Hollywood and met an Australian drummer who was touring and supporting Kiss, Motley Crue, Sabbath, etc. When he went back to Australia I not long followed and got married at 18 (seperated at 22). I worked for a Band Promoter in Sydney for years and got to work on tours such as U2, Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd, AC DC, INXS, Stevie Nicks, Bowie, Billy Joel, John Cougar, etc, etc. I had a great life, at times exciting life and at times just down right wierd life!!! In the meantime I also performed and sang in various bands myself, hosted and mc'd karaoke shows, and always kept music in my blood. he Blue Mountains. In 2003 I married a man I'd had a relationship with for only six months (my shortest relationship since high school). I was working at a large radio station in Sydney at the time and met him at a pub where I was singing. He was a guitarist/songwriter/audio engineer. We have now been married five years had our first child (neither of us have any others) both at the age of 41, our daughter is now 17 months and we are all very happy. My husband and I built a professional recording studio (designed my the same man who designed EMI & Sony) in the mountains two years ago and now produce and master other bands music as well as our own. We have writen songs for Government and other various projects, have had our own music used on t.v shows here and in the UK, have won awards and perform two to three shows per week (either in our covers duo or our original band) in various clubs, pubs, venues, etc. I also teach singing and mic technique a couple of nights a week and now work solely for myself and love it!! I feel blessed to have such a great life and Australia is truly a wonderful place to live. After 24 years it's definitely my home and now I also have my mother and step father living here as well.
