Ginette's Story

Life I am the oldest of seven kids. To avoid any confusion, my brothers and sisters are Thérèse, Guy, Nicole, Denis, Lise and Roch. Sylvie, Manon, Alain and Daniel are my cousins. If you still live in Hawkesbury, you must have heard of my mom as she is a volunteer to just about every association in town. Her name is Simone Prévost. My dad recently passed away but he used to be the furnace guy and his name was Jean-Jacques (Bégas). I moved out to Ottawa in September 1976. Manufactures and store work were not meant to be for me and office work was very limited at that time. I have been working for the Federal Government since then and I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of great colleagues from all over the country and from all over the world. I have done just about everything in the Administration field and after working in the financial side of things for many years, I am presently the Security and Facilities Officer for the Canada School of Public Service. Although working for the Federal government is not the same as it was before the 1994-96 major cuts, I love my work and the career chang...Expand for more
e opportunity that I was given. During holidays I love to travel mostly by car throughout Ontario, Québec and the Maritimes. I was married at 30 years old to Daniel Turmel, a great guy who just happened to live next door, in Grenville. He was a cook until he became handicapped, in 1998. Although he is not in a wheelchair, he walks with a cane or walker and can not sit or stand for long periods at the time. On days when he feels less pain, he cooks dinner. His cooking ability proved to be a great asset especially when I had to work a lot of overtime. As painful as may be, he insists on doing the daily dishes himself and by hand. We recently were told by a younger couple: 'We want to get married and be as happy as you two seem to be'. I consider this to be a great compliment. We have been living in the St-Pascal-Baylon & Clarence Creek area since 1990. I don't know where we will be in 10 years from now but, plenty of things can happen in one day. I sincerely hope to see or hear from you as good friends are always remembered, no matter how little we get to see or hear from each other over a lifetime.
