Gints Robert's Story

Life - Gints Robert Berzins (updated February 2023) I moved to London in 2010 from Greenwich, CT, with my wife, Mara, as well as Peter, my youngest child. As of 2018, we moved to our primary residence in Latvia. Mara and I spend half of the year in Latvia, with the other half in the U.S., and other European countries. I still work part-time in London. Eric, my eldest, graduated from Skidmore and operates the family's Fort Hill Brewery in Easthampton, Massachusetts. He has about 20 employees, and is expanding more deeply into the Western Mass and Boston regions. The brewery was recently enlarged bringing it up to 12,000 square feet. He is always looking for new employees, including salespersons. Our mission is to create 5 star beer at a 2 star price. We feature live music Thursday - Sunday.. Laura got degrees from Colby, Columbia, Cornell Law and Cornell Business schools. She became enticed by Silicon Valley and worked for a prominent law firm in Palo Alto before shifting careers to education law. Among her present clients is the San Francisco school district and other school districts in Northern California. She loves the outdoor lifestyle that N California has to offer. Peter graduated from Colorado College and works in data science for a global agri-business company. He lives in Seattle and bicycles to work and manages to ski quite a bit. My wife, Mara, is a Rutgers grad and a Columbia MBA and also has a degree in literature from Queen Mary University in London. After having a series of finance...Expand for more
jobs with companies such as Revlon and Technicon, she retired 22 years ago to focus on the family and our various transitions. She loved London because of its history, culture and the easy access it affords to the Continent and Africa. She loves Latvia since we have developed good friendships there (we both speak Latvian). I have been working for a hedge fund for over eighteen years. I founded our London office in 2010. My early background included a degree from MIT in Operations Research, and an MBA and JD from Boston University. Though I was admitted to the New York Bar, I have never practiced as a lawyer - I went into finance and never looked back. In addition to helping out at Fort Hill Brewery, I also manage an agri-business in Latvia. My hobbies include cycling - I take frequent 1000+ km trips in Europe. `Recent trips include North Sea (Cuxhaven, Germany) to Prague and Andermatt, Switzerland to Dusseldorf, Germany. I go alone, with everything that I need on my bike. In 2023 I will be crossing France twice. I try to spend the winter months in a ski resort. Recent seasons included Chamonix, France; St. Anton, Austria; Killington, VT; and I am writing this from Lake Tahoe, CA (snowed-in at the moment, 8 feet of snow in 8 days and another two feet expected, the lifts have not been operating for two days). 2022 was a tough year as I lost both my sister, Anita (three years younger than me) and my closest friend just four days later. "Live as much as you can." Gints Robert Berzins February 2023
