Glenn's Story
Life
After graduating from Conard in 70, I attended Otterbein College in Westerville Ohio for two years, Dorm living, fraternity, mis- adventures, good friends, etc.
I returned to West Hartford CT in 72, moved to Manchester, attended CCSC for one semester, and transferred to Univ of Hartford. I worked at UPS, usually at 4:30 am to pay the bills. It was the single best thing I ever did.
I headed west to Los Angeles in 1979 and promptly ended up working for The Hartford, go figure. They sent me back to CT, for 6 weeks.
I moved to San Diego in 1980, found heaven, married a small part of it, DeeRisa, in 1983. We moved to Encinitas, a small beach town 10 miles and a 45 minute commute north of San Diego.
I started my own insurance agency in 85, merged with a larger one in 92, and was canned in 2002. I'm still in insurance. But now my office is in Carlsbad and it's a 15 minute commute during rush hour.
I have two kids, Tom 21, Katy 25, Softball, baseball, football, dance, soccer, snowboarding, RC cars, paintball, a house in the burbs, it's not "father knows best", but close.
One of my clients is a recording studio. I've gone on tour recording the Rolling Stones, Aero Smith, Elton John, Blink 182, Sheryl Crow, Tom Petty, Carlos Santana, No Doubt, Fleetwood Mac, and the like for a little fun. We record the MTV music awards, Austin City Limits, Superbowl half times.etc.
My devoted wife of 22 years died Sept 2003 after a long...Expand for more
illness.
A month later my cherished Boxer dogs were bit by a rattlesnake and after 11 days in the hospital died. [pet owners; think $15,000 but I'd do it again]
I enjoy cars, Corvettes, 06 Z-06, AMG's [past] , WRX's [son totaled]. I attended a driving school in Las Vegas 3 years ago, 4 days, 4,000 gearshifts and learned I never want to be a racecar driver.
I flew north to Seattle a few years ago and cruised back down the coast on the USS Kitty Hawk, [aircraft carrier] and "played" on the flight deck for 6 days. Standing between two F-14's taking a cat shot is an unbelievable sensation. It was a great vacation.
I enjoy reading, esp about WWII and cop/legal/detective books.
I find bicycle rides along the beach relaxing. I enjoy boating on the Colorado River. Summer evenings will find me at Petco Park catching a Padres game.
I'm a Docent on the Midaway Aircraft Carrier Museum. Walking the dogs in the canyon every morning at 7:00 am with sun rising over the mountains is inspirational. On winter days I can see snow capped Big Bear and the Pacific Ocean with out moving my feet.
I believe this is a great country, I am proud to be an American, blessed even, for all I have in my life.
I'm not sure what the future holds,
but I anxiously await tomorrow.
Go in Peace
