Glenn's Story
Life
After 21 years of service to the Navy, I retired and began working for BearingPoint in the Virginia Beach area.
Military
Commander Glenn Miller was born at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma in 1963. He is a 1982 graduate of the Dwight D. Eisenhower High School in Lawton, Oklahoma. In 1986 he graduated from the United States Naval Academy, earning a Bachelors of Science Degree in Oceanography.
His initial sea tour was as the Electrical Officer in USS SAMPLE (FF 1048). Commander Miller decommissioned SAMPLE after completing a Western Pacific deployment. He then transferred to USS JOUETT (CG 29) and served as her Main Engines Officer and Main Propulsion Assistant.
Commander Miller reported to Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California and earned a Masters of Science Degree in Engineering Science (Underwater Acoustics) in December 1992.
Following attendance at the Surface Warfare Officer Department Head School in Newport, Rhode Island, Commander Miller received orders as Chief Engineer in USS SCOUT (MCM 8). The crew of SCOUT was given the title of MCM Rotational Crew CHARLIE who then embarked in USS PATRIOT (MCM 7) for the first ever Western Pacific deployment of a Rotational Crew.

AR Officer in March 1997 and received orders to assume command of the Navy and Marine Corps Reserve Center in Richmond, Virginia.
Following Richmond, Commander Miller completed his Executive Officer Afloat tour aboard USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT serving as her Auxiliaries Officer in August 2001.
Commander Miller then served as the Executive Officer (Assistant Officer in Charge) of JOINT VENTURE (HSV-X1). JOINT VENTURE was an Australian built, high-speed catamaran originally leased by the United States Army and United States Navy. Her purpose was to conduct maritime experiments with Navy Warfare Development Command (Maritime Battle Center, Newport), Mine Warfare, United States Marine Corps, and Special Forces (SEALs).
Following the tour on JOINT VENTURE, Commander Miller received orders to report as the Special Assistant to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy (for Reserve Affairs) in the Pentagon.
Commander Miller's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy Achievement Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and various unit awards.
In 1988, he married the former Tracy L. Felthouse of Pikesville, Maryland. They have one son, G.A. Jr., born in December 1989 and one daughter, Savannah, born in September 1991. The Miller Family currently calls Virginia Beach home.
