Gloria's Story
Life
After graduation, I went to El Camino College. There I met Cary Leadbetter, and we were married in August, 1969. We have one daughter, Jennifer, born in 1979. In 1981, we moved to Wyoming, and just love it here. I am involved in community theater, sing in the community choir and have been very active in the church and sponsoring youth activities. Over the years, we've had cats, dogs, hamsters, parakeets and gerbils. We currently have one cat named Copernicus and a dog named Lacy.
Workplace
I started with the City of Riverton in 1982 as a Utility Billing Clerk. In 1991, I was promoted to Finance Clerk. In February 1992, I was again promted to Accounting Clerk and became the Deputy City Clerk/Treasurer....Expand for more
I served as Acting City Clerk/Treasurer 3 times between 1992 and 2003 until a replacement was found. In January 2003, I was appointed City Clerk/Treasurer to fill the new vacancy. I guess the new Mayor thought it was time I stopped training a new boss and become the boss. However, in 2005, I decided I did not like the politics/management part of the job and asked to be returned to the Deputy position. I am much happier now - much less stress even if it is a lot less money! In 2006 Human Resource Director was added to my title. I am planning to take early retirement from the City in October 2008. I want to get a part-time job and spend more time with my animals and doing some volunteer work in the community.
