Grace's Story
Life
In the field of education since 1969; B.S. in Ed., Chicago State, 1969; M.Ed. U.of I. CCC 1977; ABD,(all but dissertation)1990 for Ed. D. USF, Tampa. Living in Florida since 1984, love it!!! Blessed with 3 children and 7 grandchildren! Ceramic artist. Born again Christian, serving Christ in a Mail Ministry since 1998 with my husband, Richard Perkins, also a Harlanite. Love to talk about and exalt the name of Jesus Christ!
College
I graduated in August 1969 with a B.S.in Ed. from Chicago State in Art Education. In Dec. 1977, I received a M.Ed. from U. of I. CCC in Learning Disabilities. I stayed in school until 1997, off and on taking courses in Voc. Ed., School Admin. and Supervision, Leadership, etc. and discontinued after becoming A.B.D. for the Ed.D. in 1999, as a result of being giv...Expand for more
en a new purpose in life (being born again in Christ!) which put school and everything else in its proper perspective. I was and am a life-long learner.
Each year I host my grandchildren in Florida. This year it was 6 of the 7 of them, ranging in age from 5-16! They were here for 3 weeks and we had a blast! (I'm sure their parents did too!) Taught the youngest how to swim and all the rest had diving competitions in our pool.
Middle daughter took me on a 10-day trip to Europe, my first! It was fabulous! Three days in Rome, then a Mediterranean cruise for 7 days! Heavenly!
I worked tirelessly this fall in the campaign to get Barack Obama elected president! Most of my classmates can remember a time when we thought this could never happen! It is truly a blessing to live to see this day.
