Grace's Story
Life
Jefferson Elementary School. Attended first grade, 1964-65. If anyone has a class picture from this year with me in it I am interested in Identifing the others in mine. This school building was torn down many years ago. Now a Bank stands in it's place. May sound silly but it breaks my heart everytime I go through Jefferson and have to pass that Bank. I am also interested in getting a photo of the old school from as many sides as possible. Please if you only have one that's fine, it may be the only one that I recieve. I'll pay for coping it and mailing. A 4 x 6 would fine. *******

Since graduating I got married, moved to Ohio in 1979 and I've been since. I return to Maryland about twice a year to visit family. I have earned a degree as a Medical Assistant. I also have an Associates Degree in Computer Science.**********
School
Favorite Teachers: Mrs. Barbra Martin, Mrs. Evelyn Sullivan, Mrs. Elizabeth Carter, Mrs. Octavia Zimmerman, Doris Ifert (secretary), John Zink and Harry Jenkins, best science teachers in town.
Gloria Michaelson, boy what I would have given to be able to show her a copy of my spelling test from medical assisting training and computer language testing. I would have loved to have seen her face when she saw those A's & B's. I can hear her now, "My my Grace, your spelling abilities have improved" still not perfect but I'm better.
Learned a lot of useful tips from Mrs. Carter, the most useful one, how to get INK out of clothes. Still using that one to this day. Had to teach it to my husband & kids, already knew how to cook, pluck and gut chickens and gut and clean fish.
Just loved Mrs. Sullivan. Everytime I think about her it makes me want to sing, God help anyone in hearing distance now though (ha,...Expand for more
ha). Where's Mrs. Sullivan when you need her? I need a refresher course.
Mrs. Martin, what can I say about her? She was the best.
Mr. Carroll Horine, he had to have nerves of steel. Although, now that I think about it, he wouldn't let me drive back to the school after I almost took us swimming in the pond when he shut the engine off and I couldn't stop the car. He made John drive back.
Kathy Antonucci, she was cool. Didn't have her as a teacher at MHS ( she was a special ed teacher, I knew her through my brother ) but, I did have her as an instructor here in Ohio when I was in college. Hadn't changed abit.
This thing of asking who was your biggest crush? Wouldn't you like to know? Well according to some of the letters I found from classmates during my recent move, I had crushes on quite a few classmates during my school years. Only one knew about it. Boy do I thank God for unanswered prayers (words to a Garth Books song, glad I didn't marry that one).
College
I didn't have a roommate. My very BEST friend though was Brenda Williams.
Workplace
Worked several years in factories right after graduating from MHS. Graduated in 1987 as a Medical Assistant. Worked many years as a private duty Nurses Aide in home as well as nursing home patients.
Worked Customer service for a food brokerage company for a short period.
Worked for an insurance tracking company for awhile, I guess the speed I didn't learn from Mrs. Montgomery in typing class would have been beneficial at this short lived job. Oh well, some of us have "it" and some of us don't. I just never got "it" (fast at typing that is).
Graduated from College in 1991 with an Associates Degree in Computer Science.
I operated a manually operated elevator at an Engineering Firm here in Ohio from Oct. 2001- Oct. 2004.
I am currently looking for some type of work I can do at home. If you know of anything I can do (thats legal {ha ha}) please let me know.
I'm considering starting my own small sewing business at home. 2008.
