Graydon's Story

Life I started grade 1 at Albert St. School in Bolton, then after Elwood Memorial was built, I started grade 2 on the south hill. Then, with no high school in Bolton at the time, grade 9 was at Bramalea Secondary School and while Mayfield was being built, grgade 10 was on the afternoon shift of the day at Central Peel in Brampton. The rest of my high school years were at the new Mayfield Secondary. I started working at Canada Cartage at 15, going from a helper position to middle management before retiring at 47. I married Gail and have 3 children Mark, Paul, and Catherine all on their own, away from the nest. For 5 years, I'm separated and living in Niagara Falls Ontario, just 5 houses from the Niagara Gorge and a short 10 minute walk to the old casino. It was a beautiful place to live. I sold there 2 years ago and am now living just outside Sundridge Ontario on a nice size lot. I wrestled at a semi pro level for a while under the NWA, but had to give it up. Although I never lost a match, I didn't have the weight at the time to carry on for the heavy weight class. I enjoyed this success very much. I ran for the provincial nomination for candidate in Etobicoke Lakeshore for the PC party in the 1994 election. I didn't win, but didn't finish last either. I walked away with a smile and threw a nice party. I met a lot of nice people and keep in touch to this day. I will not run municipally in 2010 or 2014 for Councillor, but was sure thinking of it. Up until a couple of months ago, I was going to run for Mayor of Sundridge, but with the recent passing of my son in law, it has set me behind in my plans, so I will not run now. I started Graydon Logistics by doing moving jobs, delivering furniture and appliances, along with other freight throughout Ontario and inter-continental moves across Canada. Reasonable, reliable and responsible, that's me. Since, I am expanding to residential and commercial storage, cross dock and warehousing. If it is service you want, I am the "go too" guy. If you want price, lots of those guys out there that will say they will do your move for a song, then charge you more before unloading the truck. This is not how I operate at all. Your final invoice never exceeds the quote I present to you. If you are moving across Canada, to save you paying for a two way trip, if I get a back haul arranged by either myself or my customer, I can almost cut the cost of your move in half. My concept of being successful is being completely happy. I have a few small contracts with the Bombay Company, the Learning Enrichment Foundation, Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation District 12, as well as a number of others, including Samuel Steel, including the family Oakville estate and Heritage Villiage in Markham. If anyone needs a move, give me a call at 647-447-6683. I can take you local or across Canada if that is where you wish to go. I coordinated the logistics in such charitable projects like the Winnipeg Flood relief, and the Eastern Ontario - Quebec Ice Storm. I was also Transportation and Distribution Specialist for the Technology for Learning Centre. We took truck loads of old obsolete computers from businesses, tore them down, rebuilt them, reprogrammed them and put them into schools at no cost to the tax payer. t 96,000 computers around Ontario. I was a member in good standing with the Toronto Doctors Lions Club, the immediate past president, but am retired from the Lions Club due to not enough time to make the commitment. I did a lot of community work within my club as well as throughout the district. I also am a member of the Barter Network and am considered a VIP member with them. I have held many positions in Lions from Dog Walk Chair for the Lions Foundation of Canada, Special Events cordinator, CNE Lost Children Chair, CanAm MC, Youth Exchange Chair, Special Events Chair, and Chair of the Lions CNE Peewee Baseball Tournament at the Ex. I get a kick out of helping and empowering others. I have also received many awards for my community service, from International Directors award, District Governors Award, to my prize award being the Helen Keller Fellowship Award. I am also a licensed Lay Anointer with the parish of St. Olave's Anglican Church in Toronto. I take odd service and preach sermons throughout the year, do healing services and anoint people, coordinate and provide training for Servers and Lay Readers within the parish. I am licenced for taking funerals, anointing the sick and shutins as well as administering the chalice at Holy Communion. I have been ministering there for 43 years. I believe this was always my call. I enjoy writing books and documents and have written a Handbook for Servers and Lay Readers. My next venture is writing a book that would include the services of Morning Prayer and Holy Communion in braille for the seeing impaired. I have done lots of motivational speaking on a number of topics, to quite a number of people. I have just prepared a proposal for the Gardner Expressway alternative for city council. However, Council stuck to the original idea of making a committee to create another committee to later discuss the future of The Gardner. I believe I was placed in this world to serve, and this is what I do very well. No price is too low for good, exceptional service. I feel if you touch this world in a gentle way, it will touch you back that very same way. I don't think I have done too bad for a grade 12 grad. Thanks for reading my profile. I hope some aquaintances from the past will take some time from their busy schedule to say, "Hello". Cheers, Graydon. Workplace - started with Canada Cartage Systems at the age of 15. Started as a helper on the Sears contract and worked my way up to a middle management level - remained there for 32 years before retiring the first time at age 47. - went to Home & Rural Appliances for two years. They went broke. so I retired again - started my own trucking business full time in 1996 doing residential and commercial moving jobs, hauling furniture and freight, and am also licenced for tanker work as well, any where in Canada and USA. My motto is reasonable, reliable and responsable, just like our customers. When I give you a quote, the final invoice, based upon actual time, never exceeds the quote. My guarantee and promise. I'm not considered by society to be a transportation specialist and analyst. I am still in excellent health and hope retire or sell my business in 2019 and continue to help others with social and family problems. I do lots of charity work within the community. Isn't life grand?
