Greg's Story
I got married to my first (and only!) wife, Kathy, during mid term at CACA, March '72. Our first daughter was born in Sept. '72, and I graduated in Jan.73. First 'art' job was at American Sign & Advertising in Florence (long gone). I worked as a stencil cutter for screen printed plastic illuminated signs. There for 2 years. Then spent the next ten years in a construction related industry, selling municipal waterworks supplies. Yep, I sold fire hydrants! That company went out of business in 1983. I was hired at KDM Screen Print in Northside (now in Evendale) and after 3 years there in the art dept. I got hired at Thriftway, in the advertising dept. Thriftway was a great place to work and I truly enjoyed the next 10 years there as a production artist. That came to a sudden end in 1995 when Thriftway sold out to WinnDixie. After several months of unemployment...Expand for more
/part-time stuff, I was hired at Willamette Industries in Richwood. Another CACA alum, Kevin Tracy, was already there. We worked together in the production art dept. doing prepress production for corrugated packaging. Willamette eventually fell victim to a hostile takeover by Weyerhaeuser, and six years later Wey sold the entire packaging division off to International Paper (2008). In 2010 I was offered a position as a Quality Assurance tech at Phototype in Cincinnati, which is where I am today.
Kathy and I are about to celebrate 40 years of marriage, which also means our daughter will turn 40 this year (YIKES!!). She is a UK grad, married, and lives and works in San Diego as a pediatric nurse. We had a second daughter in 1984 and she is also married, has two kids, a boy and a girl, and another girl due in May. The grandkids keep us busy...and entertained!
