Greg's Story
Life
It seems an eternity since high school, and life has been anything but dull.
I was fortunate to be among the 15 graduates of Webb Institute of Naval Architecture in 1976. Not much of a place to work on social skills, but life since then has taken care of that!
After graduation I spent a few years in the Washington D.C. area, but became bored with the work. The lure of good pay and interesting work was difficult to pass up so I migrated to Louisiana to work as an engineer in the offshore drilling business. I haven't worked north of I-10 since then! Worked until 2012 in Houston, then decided that the rat race was too much for me.
I was first married in 1985, but divorced after 15 years. Two wonderful children resulted from that marriage. In 2001, I was blessed to meet my new wife, Cindy, and the family more than doubled by the addition of 3 stepchildren and a granddaughter. We also have a grandson who for some odd reason has named me "Boat". I wonder why! My daughter gave birth in January 2016 to the newest Castleman, Isabelle Grace, and she is the apple of my eye!

exas, which is not far from Houston
In the past, my work led me to travel extensively, and at last count I have visited or lived in 55 countries. Some of them were not too nice, but others have been fantastic!
Workplace
I have worked in the Marine and Offshore Oil Industries for my entire career, and for most of the past 40 years have lived and worked in the U.S. Gulf Coast region. Worked in various shipyards as a naval architect, and am President of Castleman Maritime, a small firm that specializes in ship and offshore rig design as well as project management. We completed designs of three new classes of vessels -- two tugs and one small passenger vessel -- as well as doing the plans for major upgrades of two large oceangoing tugboats. A downturn in business led me to accept the position of Vice President Marine for SeaOne Holdings, LLC, based in downtown Houston. We are pioneering an environmentally-friendlier method of shipping natural gas and natural gas liquids, with an eye toward reducing emissions while also reducing energy costs dramatically. Our first projects are in the Caribbean regions.
