Greg's Story
After high school, I never really left school. I received my B.A. in psychology from St. Thomas University in 1982 and continued at Lakehead University to complete an M.A. in psychology. I then worked for 4 years as a school psychometrist in the Oromocto-Chipman-Minto area (1984-1988). In that period, I got married and had a daughter, Bridget, who was born in 1988.
While working with the school districts, I became disillusioned with psychology and went back to school to complete an M.B.A. at the University of New Brunswick in 1989. I only THOUGHT I was getting away from psychology because I then became very interested in organizational behaviour. In the meantime, I was teaching psychology courses at St. Thomas University and decided that I'd like to pursue...Expand for more
an academic career. To do this, of course, I would need a PhD, so I went back to school yet again. I received my doctorate in industrial/organizational psychology from the University of Western Ontario in 1995.
Since 1994, I've been a full-time professor, first at the business school at UNB-Saint John. I moved to my current position at Wilfrid Laurier University in 1999. I was promoted to full professor in 2005.
Since moving to Waterloo, I got divorced and subsequently met a wonderful woman whom I married in August 2008. Shelley is a music teacher and I've learned a great deal about music from her. We've also had more fun together than should be legal! My daughter is now attending the University of Guelph to pursue a degree in mathematics and psychology!
