Greg's Story

School Well, it seems the entire Ansonia education scene has changed since our days there (new high school, grades changing around between Mead and Prendergast) but this was my path: I attended Cabbage Hill Nursery School in Woodbridge, CT. What a great school. I remember Matchbox cars, making snow cones and a kid who went there named Jimmy Carter (odd that at that age I actually knew who President Carter was and thought the coincidence was funny). Then I attended John C. Mead School from Kindergarten to 2nd Grade. I remember our principal's name was Mr. Adzima. I can't tell you what I did last week but I remember his name ;-) Miss Blanchard was my Kindergarten teacher ; Mrs. Zemeites (I probably butchered that spelling) for 1st grade ; Mrs. Cohen for 2nd grade. I then moved on to John G. Prendergast Elementary School (from 3rd grade to 8th grade). Let's see - homeroom teachers. 3rd Grade - Mrs. Morse ; 4th Grade - Mrs. Lyskowsky (wife of the principal) ; 5th Grade - Mrs. Galli ; 6th Grade - Mr. Matusovich (Mr. Matt) ; 7th Grade - wow, complete blank on 7th grade - did I have a bad experience? :-) ; 8th Grade - Mr. Klenota. Notable elementary school ladies (sorry if you're a Classmates member): Michelle Blanchard, Becky Kuntz, Meshell Sosnowski, Jodi Wanzie, Lori Spatafore, Magda Kosciecza and Robin Soltez. Hey, memory lane is fun ;-) Keith Pelatowski was our Valed...Expand for more
ictorian and Becky Kuntz was our Salutatorian. High school - I ended up going to Emmett O'Brien Vo-Tech High School. I think my decision was based mainly on the fact that the rep from Ansonia High told me I was wasting my time at Emmett and it would be a "poor choice for someone with these grades and aptitude." When I insisted that I would have to think about it, he told me I would see reason - and he began setting up my courses. In my own f-off kind of way I chose not to go with Ansonia High. For a smart kid I didn't really think that one through ;-) But a bunch of my friends were going to Emmett and I guess that is where I was supposed to be. We never know where the path will take us. I ended up graduating as Valedictorian (translation: about 35th in my class if I went to a college prep, LOL). College I went to SCSU for a year and then dropped out. Dumb reasons - I won't even get into it. I should have transferred to a different school but I was paying for college on my own so I just decided to work with computers instead of finishing my degree. I'm doing fine but I DO wish I had completed college. I have gone back for a course here and a course there. Life is college for me now ;-) Workplace I went from college to banking and then back into computers. Today I work with networking and midrange server operations and projects for an insurance company in Maine.
