Greg's Story
Life
Left Thompson High School in 1978 and went into the Air Force as a Security Policeman. Sent first to Texas for training then to Grand Forks N.D. From there (after picking up and dropping a first wife) to Denver Co. and retraining into Space Systems. Married Ruth Ann Goellner and was transferred to Germany where we had our daughter Tara. Returned to Alabama with my Yankee wife and here we are today. I took the job with AT&T Paradyne later to become Lucent Technologies from there to Great Lakes Technologies and now with Cisco Systems. Ann does volunteer work at the local animal shelter and gardens. Tara is in high school and is obsessed with going to Princeton (that Yankee blood I guess). I spend my time bow hunting and since the technology stock crash of a year ago, wondering how I'm going to pay for Tara's obsession.
Update for 2004: Tara's at Tuscaloosa and my retirement account is safe for now. Ann and I are now empty nesters and are finding out how much time we have for the things we missed. We live north of Montgome...Expand for more
ry in the country(Deatsville) in a 90 year old house we've restored. Give us a call and drop by we're in the book. No story telling to the wife or child though.
Update for 2007: Daughter is now at Cisco follwing in her old man's footsteps but better than me. Looking to retire in the next few years unless the economy goes down the tube again. Hunt, fish and play golf.....
Update for 2012: Took an early retirement from Cisco, now working at Computer Associates. Going to give it a few more years then I'm done. Work the farm and manage investments. Tara is in New Orleans now and still follows me into Tech Sales. Still better than me too. Ann spends her time volunteering around the community.
Update for 2014: Well Computer Associates sucks. Left last June to form my own consulting firm and am now full time with Peak10 Cloud computing and running my own gig on the side. Comfortable place to be until I retire in a few years.... Tara is now at EMC and made more than her old man last year. I'm sure there will be many more.
