Greg's Story
I am a wannabe live aboard. That means it's my dream to live on a boat(sailboats for me). I'm a novice net weaver. I'm easy to get along with if you don't mind my "know it all" attitude that pops up when I let my guard down. I am a health freak who started megadosing vitamins at 22, then as an immune system enhancer but after studying herbs and nutrition have tweeked personal dosage for fitness and youth extension. I love most "outdoorsy" things including kayaking in my little inflatable kayak but especially hunting wild edible plants. I have a long term goal of rowing and or sailing across the Atlantic and perhaps the Pacific. Some might say I have an addictive personality(presently addicted to my stomach crunches) but I think I am just an escapist. I have a problem with authority and am a die-hard individualist. I like physical beauty but try not to be too shallow or vain. I love nature but hate government intervention in my right to own myself and my property and I think all long lasting solutions to world problems (like the environment) must be voluntary or they only spread fear and resentment. I would rather be out paddling, rowing or sailing than thinking about tha...Expand for more
t crap. Some say I'm "passive/aggressive". I try not to be manipulative and don't like being manipulated.
I currently live in West Columbia SC. I was born in Aiken SC, lived there till I was 21(1981) move to Columbia SC then to Glenwood Springs Colorado for 2 years, on to a summer of picking Morrells in eastern Oregon, then to S.F. CA (3 years) where I was a bike messenger and worked in a health food store met my wife who was a motorcycle messenger. We moved to Cola,(Columbia) SC in '93 and to West Cola around '95. A few years back we bought a house here(or it bought us) and about a year ago I finally got a half decent sailboat, a 19' 2" 1972 Mariner 2+2, that seats 8 in the cockpit and sleeps 4 in the cabin. I haven't got the boat in the water since September and now that's all I think about except wild food procurement and the painfully slow decline of Western Civilization through monetary inflation. Also I don't drive. I ride a bicycle to work and live next to (around 600 feet from) the Saluda River which though I ride or walk by it almost every day I last put my 2 inflatable kayaks in it in April 20, 2008.
Wow I don't believe I just told you all that;-}
