Gregg's Story

When I graduated from high school, I went to PCC and hated it. I quit and worked for Gray & Co. in Forest Grove. After 6 years I left to go back to PCC where I received a degree in Industrial Design/Drafting, photograpy and architectural design. Since then I've worked my way up to a Senior Engineering Designer/Technical Writer. In 2002 I decided to add an English/Creative/Technical Writing degree so went to the University of North Texas and received my BA in 2005. During that time I also received a scholarship from Society of Technical Communications (STC) to help me through school. I've been traveling all over the U.S. and Canada for most of my life. Last time there was a high school class reunion, I was living in Vancouver, B.C., working for a engineering firm designing pulp and paper mills. From there I've gone to Phoenix (Intel), Orlando(Lucent), Boston(DEC), Kokomo (Delco) and other less familiar places. Most of the positions were for engineering firms based out of Portland or Phoenix, AZ. When I lived in Dallas, TX (working at BAE) I married Tracy and have 1 son and 3 stepsons and now have a granddaughter and THREE GRANDSONS. I'm now back in Hillsboro, and it looks like I'm heading for Taiwan in the near future to help design a hi-tech (green) plant for my wife's company. I was hoping I could stay retired, but alas, she still has that traveling bug. I've been working lately on my poetry and story writing but it looks like that will be put on the back burner for now. For fun, we've love cruising (been to Ala...Expand for more
ska and the Carribean a couple of times). Our next cruise is going to be a 3 month cruise around the world. I love fishing (been deep sea fishing a lot). Used go with my older brother but he passed away in 2007 from cancer, so now I fish with friends. I'm sure I'll miss this class reunion too, but thought I might let you know what I've been up to. That's a short synopsis of what I've done since I graduated. It's actually long, but it could be way longer. *************************************************************************************************************************************** Update: My wife and I now live in Boise, ID. I'm working for a major chip manufacturer here. I have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and my life expectancy is about 21 months. With time so short, we decided to to take another nice long cruise to the carribeans again in January of 2017 for a couple of weeks. After that, we're going to get an RV to drive around places that interest me until whenever. I realize no one liked me at my high school, was mostly why I really didn't care about going to ANY class reunions. I was the first geek even without a computer. Now, I'm happy with my life and the love of my life. I look back and my only feelings is I wish high school could have been a LOT different. But then I wouldn't be who I am now. Why do I write to people who might read this? Because even if I wasn't liked, I still wanted to let you know that I am ok with me. My last update, no more. Have a wonderful life people! I am and have!
