Gregory's Story
Life
I spent the last 26 years in management in both the transportation and health care industries. I married the most beautiful woman and we live in Columbia, SC. She has worked at Columbia College for 28 years.
We are active members of our church and have a motorcycle ministry, which we head up. We travel many weekends through SC, NC and Ga on weekend get-a-ways and use this as a ministry to others that are tired from the work week.
I am a licensed Ham Radio Operator (KI4WQS) and have a General Class Ham Radio Operator's License. Really enjoy talking all over the world.
I am still singing as I did in Highschool and College. In 1975-76 I attended Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, TN and was too immature and left after one semister. I left and then attended Charleston Southern University, in Charleston, SC, where I graduated in 1980. That same year, I opened a concert for Amy Grant, Danny Gaither and several more artists and toured with several other contemporary christian groups and even got into the recording business for a while helping to produce demo CD's for local artists.
From 1983 to 1996, I lived in Pa, Va, and SC working for a world-wide management healthcare company and even worked in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia managing a joint venture Pacific-Rim Operation.
In 1996, I became burned out with Corporate America, as so many others have realized. I came back to the US, and always had a fascination with the Big Rigs and decided to go to Truck Driving School and eventually purchased two tractor-trailers and ran freight throughout the 48 states and Canada until 2003. I drove for seven years and acquired over 1 million miles and saw areas of the country and Canada that I never thought I would see.
In 2003, I got out of that business and found my way back to health care in the long term health care business and received both my Nursing Home Administrator and Assisted Living Administrator's lic...Expand for more
enses for the state of SC.
Recently, A very dear friend of mine called me and asked me to be his Director of Human Resources and Recruiting for his transportation company. The offer was too tempting as it paid much more than what I was making in healthcare, plus I had my weekends back - something I could never count on being in longterm Health Care. I accepted his offer and have the most wonderful job with an office staff of 13. I didn't realize it at first, but later found out that I was supporting 4 terminals in as many states and 3 different transportation companies and recruiting for all their needs in staffing as well as trucking positions.
In June 2007, I had to place my health care licenses in an in-active status, due to being out of health care for over a year and a half, but I still have to retain my continuing education units to keep them. Later in life, I want to find a little nursing home/assisted living facility and go back into this field, but don't see this happening in the near future as I am having too much fun with Recruiting and HR.
I have found that whatever I do or wherever I work, my attitude plays the most important part in enjoying life. When I was in highschool I thought I would stay in music and wanted to make it a career, but I later found out, as I am certain that many of us did, we had other talents to be tapped into.
On July 8th, I turned 51 years old and remembered how I used to make fun of people in their 50's and now I'm sure I have young people making fun of me now. How funny!

Waiting for whatever else "Life" plans to throw at me . . . it's kinda fun!
