Gregory's Story

Writing a bio on a high school reunion web site sounds like a scary endeavor, though not as frightening as actually posting a picture of your-self with it. To think that 36 years have passed since that fateful graduation ceremony held at St. Boniface Hall so many years ago, it is just amazing to say… "yes …I too have survived this far" and am happy to say I am still walking the planet in one piece! The years after graduation were anything but normal, I took a few years off from being a part of anything resembling normal society, grew my hair as long as it could get, lived in a few urban communes while only overdosing once on substances a family website like this would not like to feature—I imagine. Those years were a blur, but I did eventually get back on track and attended Wayne State University for a BFA in Fine Art in 1981. I did work in Detroit art galleries for a while and tried to make it as a fine artist during that time period, but eventually became interested in Graphic Design as a profession that could more safely pay the bills on time. I became very interested in Eastern Religions in that time also, which took me around the world in search of the Mother of all Truths, only to land back home with the realization th...Expand for more
at the Truth comes in many flavors and brands but that each individual soul has to find it’s own answers in the most common of daily experiences. I eventually moved to the east coast in search of a career in Design and eventually found a home in the Washington DC area, creating publication design for Trade Unions and Government agencies. It is here that I found my wife of 19 years and a life that is an adventure in 54 chapters so far. I am currently a freelance Graphic Designer who works from a home office, I specialize in designing books for various publishers throughout the world. My wife is a Licensed Acupuncturist who keeps me balanced, healthy and sane in a wild world I never imagined could exist while looking out the window onto 14th street from the second story classroom of Mr. Stahl’s typing class in the spring of 1970. I thank that class for at least preparing me to be ready for the keyboarded cyber world we had no idea that was coming our way. I was a quiet person back in High School and none of my closest friends are signed up here, (My best friend and classmate Gary Ziolkowski passed away a few years ago) but I’d love to hear from anyone who happens to read this and remembers me. Wishing you all the best!!! Greg
