Gregory's Story

July 2011 - To my Classmates friends, I am no longer a paying member of Classmates, therefore I only have limited access to my page and rarely check it anymore. If you want to contact me, write to my regular email address: greg(underscore)kerr(underscore)60011(at)yahoo(dot)com. You can also reach me through the other social network: F(face)B(book). Thank-you! May 2010. Life is always full of surprises and God is always good. It is time to edit my story once again. After High School, I attended Casper College for 2 years then 4 years at the Milwaukee School of Engineering in Milwaukee, WI graduating in 1977 with a BS Degree in Architectural Engineering. Additional study included 2 1/2 years in Biblical Leadership at Life Changers Bible Institute in South Barrington, IL. Currently living in Palatine, IL which is a Northwest Suburb of the greater Chicago area. Moved here in 1996. I have spent over 32 years in the Architectural profession and it has been a rough 32 years. The profession is very prone to lay offs because it is tied so directly to the economy and the building industry. I have experienced more than my fair share of job losses. I have lived and worked in Milwaukee, WI; Denver, CO; back to Casper; and since 1996, in the Chicago area. Scripture says in Isaiah 64:4 (Paraphrased): God acts on behalf of those who wait for Him. In June 2008, I was called back to work with an Architectural firm in Barrington, IL as their Construction Administrator. Good position but a lot of paperwork. On May 18, 2010, I was moved up in the company to Director of Business Development. A totally new challenge for me but with God’s guidance, I will move forward. I hope to finish out my Architectural career with them. Also back in June 2008, I was accepted into the Masters Degree program at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL. After I complete a number of prerequisite courses, I will be able to start studies in the Seminary to pursue a Masters of Divinity degree with an emphasis on Pastoral Care. The calling on my life will be to become a Chaplain. I have a long road to go down but I am willing. I just need to always remember, where God guides, He provides. Where He leads, He supplies all the needs. I get back to Casper to see my family about twice a year. More recently I have had the opportunity to do some traveling in Colorado, Utah, Nebraska, South Dakota and the Caribbean with family and new family. I honestly miss the ...Expand for more
clear blue skies and crisp morning air of the West. I was briefly married in Casper from 1990 to 1993. During the 16 years I was divorced; I prayed and asked the Lord to bring a good Christian woman into my life. At the beginning of June 2009, I gave up hoping and believing the Lord had a new bride out there for me. But no sooner had I stopped asking when the Lord surprised me by bringing a wonderful little lady into my life on June 26, 2009, albeit 900 miles away. We had an amazing long distance friendship and courtship over the Summer and on September 24, 2009 I flew out to NW Nebraska to meet her. Twenty six hours after we met face-to-face for the first time, I proposed to her in a beautiful little restaurant nestled in the mountains of the Black Hills of South Dakota. She said YES to marrying me! We set a wedding date for April 10, 2010 in Alliance, NE. The most amazing part of the story is that we both grew up in Casper, WY; our families lived only about 8 blocks from each other during that time; we attended the same Elementary School; same Jr. High and same High School with her graduating the year before me. We also discovered that during her 8th grade year and my 7th grade year, our two families lived only 5 houses apart but amazingly, we never knew each other and never had any contact with each other until June 26, 2009. Her name is Vicky Zeiler and she graduated with the KWHS Class of 1969. On April 10, 2010, Vicky and I were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alliance, Nebraska. God has not only blessed me with a very beautiful Bride, but a strong Christian woman just like I had prayed for. God is so good! We took a 2 week, 3-part Honeymoon, which included a 7 night cruise to the southern Caribbean. The island we found the most intriguing was Dominica. After our Honeymoon, we moved Vicky out to Palatine, IL and she has turned my little townhouse into a very beautiful home for the two of us. I didn’t know a person could experience such joy at this stage in life. Enjoy! Scripture says in Proverbs 18:22 He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord. God has truly blessed my life. We look forward to seeing everyone at our 40th Class Reunion in July. Be blessed my friends!
