Greta's Story
Life
I have been married to Jim Thode for 27 wonderful years. I have 3 children ages 31, 21 & 17. I have a beautiful 12 year old granddaughter. We moved to Seattle in 1980 and have stayed put ever since. I am on my 27th year with the IRS and still enjoy it as much as the day I started.
My husband sings with the Norwegian Male Chorus in Ballard so I am active with the womens group affiliated with it. I am a member of Soroptimist International of Seattle South focusing on improving lives for women and children. I have been involved with Girl Scouting since I was a scout in the 70's. Every summer I donate 2 weeks of my time to be a cabin leader for 1st grade girls during summer day camp.

my free time volunteering with different groups. My son is in the Seattle All City Band and I chaperone just about everything they do.
I am also very active with Hope Lutheran Church in West Seattle.
In January of 2005 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had 4 months of agressive chemotherapy loosing all of my hair. (That's what I get for teasing my husband about loosing his hair ) In May of 2005 I had major surgery. After having 19 lymph nodes removed there was no cancer in any of the biopsies. I still had to have 7 weeks of radiation which I think was the most difficult of all. To date I am doing good going in every 3 months for a follow up. One thing I learned is "Ladies get your mammograms !!!"
