Guy's Story
I left school after eight grades but my grandmother was a graduate of clarion normal - for teachers. I have never been out of work in all of the years that followed . actually started working while I was in school. I started writing in grade school with the publishing of the honeytown news in what was the clarion demacrat and republican news at that time. I continued writing while working at jobs in farming, oil producing, maintenance work in school system. I have published two books of my own and a cook book, plus have published one book for another person. the last fifteen years I published a newsletter with stories , which included stories about the other kids I went to school with.
one of those stories was about one of the many tricks I tried to play on others in school. I got a bar of soap that had a black dye in it . I was in RESSIE's room and the boys rest room right next had a soap dispenser that didn't work , so on a day that the dispenser was missing, I left the bar of funny soap at that wash basin. I dallied out at the water fountain waiting for someone to come out with black hands. YIKES her came a bunch of BIG BOYS from out of town that were there to play against MR. HELMITOLERS (spelling) champion basketball team. I did not wait any longer at the water fountain and never found out who might have used the soap.
Anyway I never got caught in any of these antics . I had an eye for the girls at an early age and must have been a real pest. Some that I did not bother were what I thought were good looking but I left alone -- like MAXINE because I new that - or thought that she had two really big brothers in school there.
as for the boys in my class , I got along with them all -- Rowboat actually copied my lessons from the board for me as I could not see them
running out of time today .
I started selling grit newspaper 1946 and garden seeds and cloverine salve
My first job was at nellies, where I got paid $1 to mow grass. What I remember most about it is mower had no motor .

I share my home with myself, which I find adorable.

My best friend would tell you I'm adorable, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as a country hick.
more books of my own
My current age is 73. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be millionares. I was so completely wrong.
If I won $100 million, I'd give most of it to family, then spend the rest on making music, - and -.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is mom dad, because they were best teachers.
neighbors- nellie and especially ressie and ben -- teddy roosevelt
dancing with arthur-itise and holding down the east chair
they fill the pages of my books and newsletters- like the green wild cat
I save junk-- I have my report cards from grade school -- letter from teacher DADE FILLMAM a 1970 true west magazine with my story about WM. DUTE. -- OLD MAGAZINES that are over 100 years old ( I copy the ads onto postcards for a fun hobby)
I am a truly back to the earth person and make my life a study in home grown food -- back to basic life style. I use electric , but if it went off , I still have heat, water, food for as long as needed -- canning fruits and berries-- making jellies
I'm a life time member NATIONAL HOME GARDEN CLUB
retired now but learned many trade school things such as air handling school and locksmith trade and I used these trades in work as maintenance one in a school system
I don't usually swear but once I did over an open mike in front of twenty teachers. I salvaged that by yelling get out of here and then giving the message I was ask to give.
( hopefully the teachers thought that I chased a student away from the mike)
I tared the head cook ( stories too long for here)
I won or was given a liars metal for of all things -TELLING THE TRUTH
I was an oral historian at the DRAKE WELL PICNIC for a few years until my hearing got too bad
I am the original COOKIE MONSTER as readers of my newsletters know
I still enjoy some music by using a hearing device that increases the base sound and my favorite music has both the refrain and melody that is like a recording in my brain. Songs like mocking bird hill and singers like patti page and slim whitman
time is again running out for today
