Life
Just moved to Brockville, Ontario, Canada a small town on the St. Lawrence River. Married to Marguerite (since April 25th,2003) with two children ages Jasmine, age 34 & Ian, age, 30. Jasmine has my three grandchildren, Jadzia, born October 5, 2002, Cobain born Sept 24, 2011, and Dax born Aug 18, 2015. Jasmine is engaged to be married to her new boyfriend, Fred, who has a 6 year old daughter, Kristen. Ian is currently living in Perth with his girlfriend and working at The Source. I also have 8 step-grandchildren, 3 by my step-son, Dan, 3 by my step-son Marquis, and 2 by my step-daughter Gisele. I worked in the social services field for 25 years and did many other types of work over the years. I was an active community volunteer for many years and want to start doing that again now that I am settled in Brockville. Currently not working but being a house husband. Would love to hear from anyone I went to school with. I can be reached on Facebook.
School
School was a hard time for me. I was always in trouble for one thing or another. I was into a lot of drinking in those days and into drugs as well. I remember many days skipping school and disrupting classes because I was bored. I guess I needed more challenges then what they were willing to give me back then. I remember skipping school one day and Royce Cavin, the guy who worked for the Gas Company asked me if I was busy or not and I said "No". He then asked me to help him with an installation he had to do and I said I would. We immediately proceeded to the High School Home Ec room where we installed a gas stove. I couldn't believe that I got away with that one even when Mr. McCammon came into the room to check on the installation. He thought I was there on a co-op placement. It was just one of many times that I pushed the envelope in school. I ended up being kicked out with less than a month left in our Senior year so I had to finish school in Night School the next fa...Expand for more
ll. I still graduated in 1970 (just before Christmas) so consider myself still a member of that graduating class. I was there with the rest of you in spirit the night you all graduated. I, of course, did not want to graduate too soon because that meant I was eligible for the draft which I was not prepared to do.
Military
Well I was not in the military as I managed to convince the Army over a period of months that I was unsuitable for military service. I was eventually declared 4-F as mentally unfit for military service. I did everything I could to prevent being drafted. I complained of a bad back, was interviewed by numerous Doctors (Psychiatrists), sent down to Moral Waivers because of my criminal record, and refused to answer the questions about whether or not I was a member of the Communist party. After 6 months they gave up and decided that I was unfit for service. I was never so happy as the day they told me that. If they had tried to draft me I told them that I would just leave for Canada since I had dual nationality. I eventually moved here permanently anyway in 1975 and have only been back to Greencastle once in 1976. I have only been in the Excited States four times in total since then. Once to Greencastle, once to California for Charley Brann's wedding, once to Disney World with my son in 2000 after I received a pardon from the Governor of Indiana for my previous criminal activities that eventually ended me up in jail for a few months in 1975 and once in 2006 to Oregon to see my stepdaughter and her family. I went back to Indiana in October 2009 and saw a few old friends in Greencastle and Terre Haute. I saw Doug Huckleberry, Melodie Strain, Chuckie Robinson, Karen and Patty McMains and Marvin Long (who I worked for at George's Pizza and Topper's Pizza). It was great seeing old friends again and having a tenderloin sandwich at Moore's bar. You can't get them in Canada and I have missed them for years.....Mmmmm.
