Tall, dark.....and balding. And yes, I'm that last remaining Conservative you've heard tell about.
To a friend who recently claimed that "Socialism works":
Define socialism that "works" and what country it is "working"in? The countries that are socialistic are slowly dying and some of the more advanced "experiments" are trying to reverse the damage. It takes a couple generations for socialist models to finally implode (it's like evolution - it doesn't happen over night- see Russia).

sn't socialism work? Simple. Because people are not robots. They will work no harder than the next guy. If there is no meaningful incentive to work harder, attend higher education, be more productive, etc, because it all just goes into one big pot anyway - why bother? Thus, socialistic societies fall behind in innovation and production and eventually, fail And don't even think about some idealistic "hybrid" (e.g. "democratic socialism") that's just a slower-acting poison).
You can hate big business, corporate America and fall prey to the whole class envy thing that the libs perpetuate but, like it of not, it's that freedom and ability to be better than the next guy that fuels capitalism. It's far from perfect but it's the best system going.
Margaret Thatcher once said of Socialism, "The problem with socialism is what do you do when you finally run out of other people's money?"".
