Hallie's Story
Life
I married the "boy across the street" in 1955. And
my husband Larry and I moved to Gravette, Arkansas in 1957. We purchased a 160 acre farm in the "Heart of the Ozarks". For 35 years we operated a dairy farm. After all our "farm help" grew up and moved out we quit milking cows. We now raise Beefalo cattle. Larry operates a vehicle and machinery repair shop here on the farm. We have 4 children, 9 grandsons and 6 granddaughters. We also have 1 "great"-grandson. All the children and grandchildren live within 35 miles of the home farm.
I retired March 31, 2002 after working for 35 years in the federally...Expand for more
funded Head Start Program. For the past 27 years I served as the Executive Director for the Northwest Arkansas Head Start program that covered 3 counties. For the first 8 years I was a teacher and Director in the local centers. I was fortunate to work for 35 years at a job that I throughly enjoyed.
My agenda for my retirement years, at least the next 35, is quite full. I am hopelessly addicted to genealogy and history. I have trips planned all over the USA and some in Europe. I will travel alone, because someone has to "stay down on the farm" and Larry would much prefer that to wandering through cemeteries.
