Harold's Story
Newly married on 6-7-08 (Catchy). First time, too. Thought for a while it wasn't going to happen. Then I met the right one. That's how it's supposed to go anyway, isn't it? That's the latest big thing in my life. I hope my old friends remember me as easy to get along with, someone to go to in need of a friend. I don't think I've changed that much. Just a little more cautious and a little wiser than before. I think this part of me was developed fairly well when I went on the Police Dept here at home in Chicago. That made me even more cautious and wiser. There's a lot of teachers and fellow students I'd like to see again. Style of dress? Well, I still do wear black Levi's like I did all through High School. Still the same hair style. I stopped wearing glasses around 1990 after I went for the vision correction procedure known as RK. Now, Lasik is the thing. If I did anything differently, I would have completed my college education which would have set some of my goals a little higher. My oldest friend at Annunciata is still my good friend today-Angelo Mannarelli-who was also my Best Man at my recent wedding. He's been in Dyer, Ind for many ye...Expand for more
ars with his wife Margaret and son, my godson, Vincent. What would surprise my classmates at a reunion? Most of them would still recognize me, I'm told. Nice compliment. All of us need to remember a very important thing in our lives. And that is to always know you have things to look forward to. Since childhood, we had our whole life before us. Even when you retire from your career, if that sense of continued accomplishment in your life ever wanes on you, the next path that leads to is usually one you'd rather not be on. We all must keep a clear vision of things to come. When one begins to ask the question, "What now?", answer it as quickly as you can, and get on with your life to keep it moving to more discovery. We'll be around a lot longer if we know there's more to live for. I think this is the key to it. Life demands expression and never stands still. Neither should we. Keep steppin' out is what I say. When life gets old , we get old. It doesn't have to be that way when you move with life's melody that's always playing until we tune into it ourself. I would say that this has to be most valuable lesson I learned throughout my life.
