Harris's Story

Hello everyone - My best times and fondest memories were at Balmoral Junior High School Crescent Heights High School there after, I started to lose interest in school as I spent more time in Crescent Billiards than in the classroom. Dropped out after the 2nd year of grade 12 , pursued a trade. Got into Auto body repair and refinish. Started my apprentice in 1973 - completed my apprenticeship and received Alberta and Inter-Provincial Red Seal Certification as a licensed tech. Worked through the years mainly in the refinish side of autobody , graduating to estimating and completing the years in Autobody management. Spent the last 5 years working for Wawanesa Mutual Insurance here in Calgary as Imaging Appraiser in Auto Claims. Married for over 40 years ( the first 20 was wonderful but the last 20 - not so much ) through it all we brought 3 beautiful & wonderful daughters into the world who are all grown , have their own homes here and starting their lives with boy friends, husbands to be and husbands. We had our first Grandson who was born June 25th of last year. Have been in Calgary this entire time and separated from my wife June of this year. I retired January 2021,...Expand for more
moved to Strathmore in August and now own a bungalow villa with attached garage that I have always wanted in a retirement community. Life has taken a very positive spin. Not going to live in the past and moving on in this life as now I have my best friend and companion who is a 1 year old Australian Heeler. Moved in August 25th - my bungalow is perfect in every way and the best location in all of Strathmore especially for my dog as when you go out of my back yard - it opens up to green belt running along the canal so we have our own off leash park which runs endless in both directions. Life is good - I am very content and happy in life as I have everything I need right here : my dog , my home and a nice mini travel van. I thank God each and every day for what I have. After all the years of being married - my wife and I are still very good friends but like I said , I am moving on and looking to start meeting new friends. Well that wraps it up - just wanted to say Hi and see who is out there to renew friendships as Balmoral has been the best time of my life and looking back , had many good friends. Thank you for reading - looking forward to connect with old friends.
