Harry's Story

I went to ETSU after high school and graduated in 1986. I then went to UT Law School, but found the law unappealing and joined the Army after a year. I was an officer in the Field Artillery from 1988-1991 and served in Germany and Operation Desert Storm. I worked on a Master's Degree in education in 1992 and 1993. In 1993 I married Melissa Scalf (we divorced in 2009) and began teaching and coaching at T.A. Dugger and Elizabethton High School. I taught for twelve years. In 2005 I took a job with the TEA (Tennessee Education Association) and moved to Nashvil...Expand for more
le for three years. Last year I transferred back to East Tennessee with the TEA. I am a teacher's union rep serving 2,500 teachers in Sullivan County, Carter County, Johnson County, Kingsport, and Bristol. I work out of a home office on the tree streets in Johnson City. My oldest daughter Keely is a freshman at ETSU. My youngest daughter Sydney is an eighth grader at T.A. Dugger and is a cheerleader and softball player. I still enjoy golf and fishing, but work keeps me pretty busy. All in all, life has been pretty good so far and God has blessed me richly.
