After boot camp I spent about a year in Newport, RI waiting for and attending school to become a Disbursing Clerk (DK). From there I went to the USS Yancey (AKA-93) as the DK. s I rotated to shore duty at the Navy Finance Center in Cleveland, OH. I was at NFC from December, 1968 to August, 1970 and then was rotated back to sea duty on board the USS Denebola, AF-56 as the DK. We made four trips to the Med while I was on board and in May, 1971, I detached and was discharged in June of 1971.
