Hazel's Story
Who am I really? Well, I'm single, and have been since 1995 and I'm a happy person interested in living life to the fullest. Yes, I know that's a cliche, but oh so true. My family is a high priority. I have a son, Jerry, in Sydney who comes down to Melbourne to visit a couple of times a year. And my daughter, Molly, and her family live about 10 minutes away. I have four wonderful grandchildren and we're very close.
I adore animals, especially dogs. I have a red Toy Poodle, Cherry Lee, who will have her 2nd birthday in April. I've never had a poodle before, and they are a delightful dog. For over 30 years, I had Basenjis. They are the dog of my heart, but they are not a suitable dog for an older person. They WILL escape to explore the world and you WILL have to chase them down.
As for what I do to keep busy, I read; watch some tv or dvds; linedance (don't snigger...it's fun, a bit of exercise, and great exercise for the brain!); I do jigsaw puzzles; play brain games on the computer; email; do crafts and oil painting; and 'stuff' like that.
I'm a little bit of an adventurer, I went skydiving a few years ago and Loved it!!!
As for what I love to do - I love to do international travel; go out to dinner; go to live theatre; socialize with my friends; take trips back to Texas!!!, especially for Reunions LOL; do things with my family; take the grandkids to the mo...Expand for more
vies or theatre; and I'm very interested in doing genealogy and scrapbooking.
I've put the genealogy and scrapbooking together and I've done one book on my father's family - Carnes - from an ancestor born in Georgia in 1780.... up to my birth. And I've started the one on my mother's family - Denson - from an ancestor born in England in 1620......but I haven't gotten past my mother's generation yet because......
My daughter, Molly, has asked me to do a scrapbook on My life up to when I finished high school. She says that while she's very interested in the ancestor's stories and photographs, she's More interested in me, and that if I don't do a scrapbook, she won't have the pictures and information in one place! That's true, I guess, so I've started gathering as much information and as many pictures as I can. I don't seem to have very many school pictures, though, so I have a request.
If you have any group pictures from when we were attending Ashbel Smith or Anson Jones or Baytown Junior High......I would be so grateful if you'd share them with me. Either scan them or bring them or copies of them to the Reunion (you Are coming, aren't you?) I do have a couple - one from Ashbel Smith, and one from Baytown Junior High. But I need (want) more, of course.
That's about it for now. I haven't quite written a novel, but close, I guess, and I don't want to bore you silly.
